“I am drawn to the things which speak to the senses; the light and atmosphere of landscapes, the impressions of a moment or place, and the spirit of nature and of people. It is important to me to strive as an artist to paint a variety of subjects and to paint each equally well.I paint often on location, or from life. Whether researching sporting life images, landscapes,or places from abroad, painting directly from the subject is essential to capturing the impression of what I see.”

"Morning Mist", "Sapello", "Canoncito" by Dix Baines

It's the New Year and with it time to get organized for 2009. In so doing, we located this Giclee and this Painting that need to move to someone's wall to enjoy. "Morning Mist" is a limited edition print on paper that we had thought was sold out, but Dix found one safely tucked away in his Studio. It is number 2 of 250, signed, and framed in a barnwood frame. "Sapello" is an original oil painting that is the one and only in our Bin Pile and is being sold for 20% of the price.
Thank you for your interest and have a wonderful Wednesday.
Sincerely,
Kathlyn Gogarty-Baines

"On July 8, 1847, the future third President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wilford Woodruff, was then a 40 year old member of the original Brigham Young wagon train of Mormon pioneers on their way to settle the Great Salt Lake valley. On that date, the wagon train had arrived at Fort Bridger, Wyoming and took a much needed day off. After breakfast, Wilford Woodruff took the fly rod, reel, line and artificial flies he had obtained in England on his last mission for the church and went fishing on the Black Fork of the Green River just outside the fort. This is the first recorded evidence of a native Rocky Mountain trout being caught on a fly rod, and the first recorded use of a fly rod and artificial fly west of the Mississippi River".
